DS had a special overnight with his grandma, so I am relishing quiet time this morning..When I was pregnant with him, I always liked when 2nd time moms would post this, so I could just throw questions at them. At that time I didn't know very many IRL moms around my age believe it or not, so liked to ask baby gear questions...
Anyway if you have questions, ask away
Re: Any questions for a 2nd time mom..ask away!
We didn't use anything when my ds was a newborn. It was when he started rolling over somewhere around 4 months maybe that we did end up trying one of the wedges. He would roll himself onto his stomach and then couldn't get back the other way so he would cry, and he would do it repeatedly, so he wasn't sleeping!
I don't think it really helped that much though. It had breathable mesh sides, so it was supposedly safe. Def don't use it with a newborn though because when he was really little (newborn) though he wouldn't have been able to turn his head if he got it pressed up against the side. I wouldn't worry about getting one now or even registering for one. There are some some that come with a back piece too and a cradle for their head, and I would personally avoid them just because of the SIDs risk. I would wait and see how it goes with your dc with the rolling..
I registered online actually at Babies R Us, so a lot of the stuff I never actually saw before the shower. Some of the stuff I had seen when I had been shopping in the store. I think for our swing, and definitely our stroller I went into the store to check it out before I registered but everything else I just picked out online. It made it so much easier that way.
I was also really nervous about picking out baby furniture online, but I found my set in a catlog so I actually got to see it a little better. I never drove to the store though because it was too far away.
I wanted a certain pattern carseat that they didn't carry in the store either so I went ahead and ordered that online too.
I have to add that I am normally pretty picky about stuff too and it all worked out. The one big thing though I would recommend going to the store to try out or going to a local store that has one is the stroller. You use it a lot and if it's not easy to use then it will be a pain in the butt!
I have a stroller/carseat combo picked out at BRU online that I absolutely love but no idea if they actually carry it in our local store (local being over 50 miles away). I'm concerned that the stroller might not fit in my car trunk, and that the carseat/carrier might be really heavy. But I also don't want completely rule it out if BRU doesn't have it in the store.
