  • The Widow Clicquot: The Story of a Champagne Empire and the Woman Who Ruled It

I know it's subtle, how much I miss drinking... :-)

  • I just finished "The Lovely Bones" by Alice Sebold  Great book and an easy read, so easy for my jumbled-up pregnant head to follow.....
  • "The Crimson Room," don't know author. Historical mystery from post WWI London.

Also planning to get 'Eat, Pray, Love' this weekend, as I want to read it before the movie comes out. May save it for hospital bag, may not :)

  • Just finished Running with Scissors!  It was so bizaar and ridiculously vulgar and entertaining!!
Snuggling after a nap! Claira 2 yrs and Sophia 11 months Image and video hosting by TinyPic
  • The Power of One...by Bryce Courntany.  Just finished.  Has the BEST ENDING ever to a book.  About a boy growing up in south africa in world war 2 era.  VERY GOOD.

Just started The Surgeon.  Pretty good...murder/mystery.

Sawyer Quinn (09/06/06), Rory Keaton (04/07/08) and Kinsley Saffron (10/12/10). Forever and ever my babies they'll be. A rose can say "I love you",orchids can enthrall, but a weed bouquet in a chubby fist, yes, that says it all.~Author Unknown

  • Don't laugh... I just finished Twilight and it was pretty good! I watched the frist 2 movies recently out of pure curiosity of what all the hype was about. The movies weren't what I expected (in a good way) and a coworker told me the book is way better so I borrowed her copy of the first book in the series. The relationship between the 2 main characters is so well developed.

  • I just got into the House of Night series by P.C. Cast and Kristin Cast, and I'm on the most recent book...which I believe is called Burned.

I recently finished Ghost Girl, can't remember the author's name...but I thought it was a pretty cute story.

And I've also been reading some Christian romance novels that have 3 stories in one book, and every book takes place in a different state.  I'm really not one for romance...but it has just enough in them to satisfy my "aw" for it, they're pretty good.

And an ex-neighbor of mine told me read the book, "Death in Yellowstone."  (It might be Deaths)  She let me borrow it from her, and I haven't finished it yet.  Based on true stories of deaths in Yellowstone.

I get bored easily from reading, so I tend to jump from book to book.

  • "The Zookeeper's Wife" by Diane Ackerman. It's about a zookeeper's wife in Warsaw, during the Nazi occupation of Poland.
  • "Good in Bed" by Jennifer Weiner. A fun read!

  • If you haven't read the dragoon tattoo books, those are good (I've read the first 2, haven't started #3 yet).  The first one was slow to start for me, but once the guy got his "assignment" it really started to pick up.

I also liked The Help; had to get used to the dialect used by one of the narrating voices.

My book club selection this month is actually The Thornbirds... came out in the 70's, was the subject of a miniseries in the 80's.  The book spans several years starting in the ~1920's in New Zealand & Australia.  If you like long books, this is the sort of book for you.

My favorite book of all time is The Count of Monte Cristo (unabridged).  It's a timeless tale of revenge, so clever.  But SO SO SO long, so it might not be the best book to pick up because if you don't finish it before the baby comes, you may never be able to get back to it!!

  • I just finished Girls in Trouble by Carolynn Leavitt. It is about a teenage girl that gives her baby up for open adoption and all the turmoil that follows. Incredible page turner and so interesting.

  • I just finished reading The Book Theif by Markus Zusak.  Its kinda long (500-ish pages), but I thought it was good.  Its historical fiction and takes place in Nazi Germany.  It surrounds the life of foster girl, her foster family, and the friends and people she meets during WWII and the Hitler Youth.

My sister and my mom are both reading it and they both love it and highly recommend it.  I think I am going to get it on Audible and listen on my ipod since I just don't have the attention span to read right now :(

  • 3 great books that I could not put down about the WWII era....

"Sarah's Key" by Tatiana de Rosnay

"The Kommandant's Girl" and "The Diplomat's Wife" by Pam Jenoff. These two books are a part of a series, "The Kommandant's Girl" is the first in the series followed by "The Diplomat's Wife". Don't read them backwards like I did b/c you will be confused!

Nice!!!! my cousin Sara is the author. It's also pretty cool they are making a movie out of it! i cant wait to see it. i hope you are enjoying it!

  • Thanks for all the suggestions.  I am off to make my list for the library!
  • I just finished "The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society" by Mary Ann Shaffer.  If you haven't read this, pick it up.  It's all written in letter form and it moves great.  It's about a book club during WWII but is pretty light and fun.  I've never read anything quite like it.

Before that I read "The Innocent Traitor" by Alison Weir.  I am a junky for Tudor history and Alison Weir is a much better source than Phillipa Gregory (I've also enjoyed her books but I've become a bit of a Tudor snob).  This book is about Lady Jane Grey who took the throne after Edward died and had it for nine days before Queen Mary came and took what was hers.  Very well written.

Anybody that wants to talk books, I'm your girl.  I'm dying to start a book club but have a hard time finding people with time and the will to read.
