So I made a watermark for any pics I post -- not because I think my photog skills are stellar (ha!), but because I've been getting skeeved lately by the pregnancy fakers on the boards who steal pics and pass them off as their own kids. It's nothing new, I'm sure, but it still just really creeps me out the more I think about it.
But, here's my question -- will a watermark actually make any difference? I was going to just put "do not copy," but I figured if it had my screenname in it (with my first name), it might deter more people from copying. Thoughts?
I would hate to stop posting pics altogether...I just hate that there are such sick people in the world.
Re: Keeping people from stealing pics...
You're right -- I guess I'll have to go pretty close to their faces. Geez, what a ridiculous waste of time!
I agree that the watermark needs to be really closer to the faces.
In addition to my desire to remain anonymous, I also know there are some internet crazies out there, which is why I never post photos...
(Hopefully this doesn't make people think that I'm one of the internet creeps!)
I also dont' post pics and keep my photos as to only friends of friends on FB. FB was recently hacked and a lot of info is now on another directory. PPL should think about that before they put they will be out of town and their address is on FB. Plus I can see a lot of ppl people's because they have settings as friends of friends. I know you are talking on here, but just my 2cents.
That said, I see you have photo by jillrock, but if I saw that I could think it was a photographer who took those pics who want credit. So even if someone took it, I wouldn't really realize it...maybe it would deter *most*.
There are a lot of sickos out there, so be careful when showing pics. I'm not sure what the best solution is.
What if you put 2 little "JillRock"s above your LO's heads (to right and left of Ava's head)? As your photo is right now, one could still crop right above your watermark, but if you were to put "JillRock" on each side of Ava's head right above your other two LO's then they would have to work harder to steal the pics (i.e. crop all around the LOs and then repaste onto another background or something like that).

this...has someone on this board had their photos stolen?? wth??
Nope, not here (that I know of). Mostly on the multiples board. There are lots of crazies out there who claim to be having twins, triplets, etc. Then there this post on the "bump post secret" board --

Just kinda creeped me out. Though I'm not really sure what someone could do with the pics -- not like it would really affect me at all (I think I'm still anonymous "enough"). It's just creepy.
