Breech at 28 weeks, no biggie, right?

I had a scan at 24 weeks, baby was breech.  Did not even think about it since the baby had tons of time to move around.

Had another scan at 28 weeks, baby is still breech.

I am still thinking it is not a big deal - Dr said the baby still has plenty of time and plenty of room to flip.  But, then went through all the "details" about a breech baby.

So - your thoughts.  Breech at 28 weeks, no big deal?

If you baby WAS breech at delivery, how long prior did you know that they were breech?

:)

  • Still time to move but I would be a "little" concerned only because both of mine were always head down at that point and that is all that I have to go on:)  Technically I think there is tonnes of time to flip.

AND where did you get that CAR in your siggie?  Hilarious!

  • If it makes you feel better the twins were breech one week than head down the next time. This went back and forth from 24 weeks to the day i delivered. at 36 weeks i had an u/s they were both breech and than I went into labor on my own that saturday (so i was 36 weeks and 5 days) and they were both head down!! I still went for the c section for many reason but i woudln't worry so much at this point. They move around a lot in there!

Someone gave that to Lil J for Christmas.  It was sitting in the garage all winter and spring and finally took it out for a ride.  Lil J loved the car, but Cora wanted a ride too :)

  • My OB said not to worry until 36 weeks, so I say you've got plenty of time. :)
  • Hey! I have had weekly US, and she has been ALL over the place! Breech. not breech, transverse, flipped during the US!

Your LO has plenty of time. When I was induced with Nolan, he was breech on a Friday, and vertex that Monday.

  • good to know - thanks ladies
  • Well, not what you want to hear, but DD ws breech at the NT scan.  The 20 week scan.  And ever scan after that.  Never once flipped. Delivered by c/s.

Turns out she never would have flipped - something to do with the cord and the placenta placement.

  • My LO is breech too.  My OB is doing a cervical check next week to make 100% positive.  I'll be 35 weeks then.  She told me we have until 37 weeks to get the baby to flip on her own.  Otherwise, she mentioned doing the external version and if that doesn't work we have to discuss scheduling a c-section.  I DO NOT want a c-section.   So...there is definitely still time for both our babies to turn.

FWIW, Stella didn't flip until around where you are right now.  I felt it happen and it was totally bizarre.  I keep hoping Hadley will do the same, but I think she's pretty comfortable where she is.

  • I think they started talking to me about breech turning tips around 32 weeks.  He stayed breech until my external version at 37w5d.  I wouldn't worry @ 28.  I wasn't even too worried at 32.
  • I'm 32+5 today and he's still breech and my midwife is not worried at all. She said we'd worry after 36-37 weeks unless I went into labour before that.) Apparently second babies can turn later than first babies?
  • I have no experience at the end result but my baby has been breech at every ultrasound, 16w, 20w, 22w, and 26w.  While I know there is a lot of time for her to move, so far she is always in the exact same position so who knows. I'm preparing myself mentally that she could be breech at delivery resulting in a c/s but that I still have a lot of time left for her to move.
