Boston Mom told not to Breastfeed at YMCA...

https://www.boston.com/yourtown/news/medford/2010/07/medford_mom_asked_to_stop_brea.html?p1=Local_Links

I just saw this artical on Boston.com and couldn't believe what I was reading. It's amazing to me that people in today's society have such a problem with breastfeeding in public.

And the fact that the YMCA worker said that the main reason the mom was kicked out of the babysitting room was because there is was a "no food" policy. Makes this story even more crazy..

  • I am so amazingly frustrated by that. BFing could save lives, save this counrty millions in health care costs and is D.A .M.N hard (speaking as someone who had a realitivly easy time compared to some), and we kick women out of public places for doing it. (((hits head against wall))))

  • I had to post this on FB...I hate things like this...

People need to get a freaking life...its a mother feeding her child, and she's well within her rights to do so, whenever and wherever she pleases...and she actually doesn't have to be discreet, even though most nursing mothers that I know ARE discreet in public.

    Crazy!!

    Thanks for posting this!!

  • That's completely ridiculous.

  • this really grinds my gears...ugh..they are lucky I wasn' thatt mom or hell wouldVe broken loose...the one good thing is that it will bring a mother's right to BF more int the light and hopefully people will learn from this..
  • At least the Y's response is appropriate.  MA law is very BF friendly so I think this the case of a bad employee.
