I have 6 months before the big three-oh, and I feel like I've lived my twenties pretty fully, but there's always something new to do! I want to create a "30 by 30" list.
What small, big, silly, crazy, educational, risque, noteworthy or not things are on your bucket list? What have you done, plan to do or wish you would have done?
Re: Fun poll: Bucket List - 30 by 30
I wish I had traveled more. I would love to have made it to Italy and France before we had O. Now it'll have to be a family vacation rather than an ultra-romantic getaway. I am glad to have taken two weeks to drive cross-country with a girlfriend when I moved from Washington DC to Cali. We zig-zagged all over the US and saw a lot of great sights. I would not change that experience for the world.
I'd also like to study forensics. It has always fascinated me. I am just not ready for more student loans.
I did a 101 in 1001 (101 goals in a 1001 days) list you can check out.
101 in 1001
Some of this stuff I have done but my list would include: buy a house, go to mardi-gra, go to a topless beach, weekend of pampering and wine tasting in Napa Valley with friends, a long road trip, take a photography class, concour my fear of flying, bungie jump, take a cooking class or two, and learn to sew.
There are things i want to do , but I have tried them multiple times and not succeeded, so I have basically given up, Learning Spanish was my top goal for years and I have just basically decided that I will never really learn it.
the other is knitting, I try every so often and I always fail, so it's just not my thing.
Things I DID do before 30:
Travel: Paris, Stockholm, Israel, Costa Rica, Canada (Banff) etc. I strongly recommend Paris if you can get the time off. I hear flights are very inexpensive right now. Also I did a trip of all the Nat'l Parks in the area, and I loved Lassen Volcanic Park, so if you prefer to stay close to home, I would put that trip on the list. It's up near the Oregon border. Sequoia and King's Canyon are also very beautiful. Snorkeling in HI was awesome too, but most people around here have been to HI.
Music shows: Hundreds, I can't name them all, but I loved seeing lots of bands when I was younger. Now I don't care as much. I'm too old for rock and roll as my DH says, haha. If you have not ever been, the "Hardly Strictly Bluegrass" festival in GG park in September is a must do. I went every year until I had the baby, it's awesome and totally FREE!!!!! Best part about it
Worst part is parking, we used to take our bikes and drive to where the zoo is and bike down along the water to the park. Or take the motorcycle. i parked one year and we got lucky. I would try to do it.
Art museums every week when i lived in NYC- right now there is an awesome exhibit at the De Young, Impressionists paintings from the Musee D'orsay in Paris, I would put that on my list, we are trying to get to it at some point.
Hiking- tons of hiking. Banff was really beautiful but there is tons of nice hikes around here. Steep Ravine is a classic, starts from Pantoll ranger station on Mt tam, goes down to Stinson beach on the Matt Davis trail and then you can have a few oysters down by the beach and come back up on the Steep Ravine trail. I used to do that every year before I got old and out of shape, haha.
I'm not an adrenaline person so "skydiving" or "parasailing" won't be on my list ever. I don't even do roller coasters :P
Yes, please!
These are things I keep saying I want to do, so I think I will add these. Thank you!
Oh, I have to go check out your blog! Yep, I just came up with this idea last night, so I have six months, so nothing too crazy can be added. I'm also putting things on that I haven't done prior to now.
Thank you for the list!!! I've traveled to Europe a couple times, (Paris, London, Rennes, Salzburg, Geneva, Chamonix, Munich, Baden-Baden, northern Italy), Korea twice, the Bahamas. I still want to see Greece, but I don't think that will happen in the next 6 months.
I want to go camping, so maybe one of your closer-to-home suggestions would work for that.
I've been skydiving.
I want to take DD to the Academy of Sciences (even though she's too young, so it's more for me!), so maybe we can hit the De Young too.
I'm well past 30 so this wouldn't be for me. Thankfully, I've done a lot of the things I really really wanted to do, and the rest is gravy (visiting new places, having fun experiences that aren't goal oriented).
I really wanted to visit Paris, be a wife, and be a mother. Done, done and doing. Along the way I learned to knit, sew, and take a pretty decent photo.
DH and I keep a small list of things we want to do with DS, but honestly those are things for us. He'd be happiest if we all stayed home and played hockey all day.
Both of those are things I really want to do SOON. I used to sew but if you don't use it you lose it and I lost it! I also would really love to learn how to take a good photo. I hate having me SLR and not knowing how to use it.
I started this as scrapbook project, with a page for each item as I finished it, that's why #100 is what it is... if it has a "**" before it, that means I've done it. I wrote the list in Sept. 2004, when we were on our way to LA to see a Giants game at Dodger Stadium, so that's why it's first. DH and I started talking about it, and I started writing my list out!
