Hello,
I've been lurking for a bit and you all seem very nice. In my search of previous posts I wasn't really able to find anything on when people are generally calling their doctor (either OB or RE-not even sure what that stands for but know it's a fertility specialist) Since we are presumably all over 35 would you mind sharing with me?
I have been TTC for 9 months and was going to wait a couple of more cycles, but decided to call. No matter I can't get an appointment until September. Just curious when people made the call. Sorry for the lame profile, hope to update soon.
Re: How long 'till contacting Dr.?
Hi there and welcome to the board!
Generally speaking if you are TTC (and are 35 or over) for six months and you haven't gotten pg...then you should call. At least that's what I was told.
Also, you'll find that an RE (Reproductive Endocrinologist) is more along the lines of the kind of dr. you'll be going to. Especially if you will be going on clomid (or any other kind of stims).
If you look aaaalllll the way down on the left hand side there is a Bump Board Glossary...it has a lot of the abbreviations listed. But, if you are unsure, just ask.
Thanks rach2100. And hello neighbor Roadstar. I didn't even realize my state was on my profile.
BTW I called my doc office and one said they wouldn't see me until 1 year and the other said 6 months. I am interested anecdotaly when people have called.
I called just a few months before the 2 year mark...way to long to call.
An RE will see you before a year, especially if they know you are over 35.
Hello and welcome. I've been on here since June of this year. I just tried for the 16th month (not in a row, since Dec. 08) to conceive. I turned 35 in May but started getting my testing when I was 34 1/2. Finally, for my 15th cycle I used clomid and progesterone. These were prescribed by my OB and I had no monitoring. It didn't work, AF came yesterday. I've made my consultation appointment with an RE for next Tuesday. I'm burnt out on trying on my own. Hope that helps some! I was still 33 when I started TTC. Never thought I'd be 35 and still trying.
GL to you.
Welcome! I was born and raised in MA and now living in Colorado due to my husband's career. I miss home
We are in cycle #7 of trying and I just called this week and made an appointment to see a RE. He had room for me next Thursday. I was pleased that it was so easy.
GL to you!
