First PG announcement that made me sad

I know I"m so early on in the IF T-TTC group and shouldn't complain; but I did just get a little sad. My 43 y/o cousin (who I love and am very close to) just called to tell me she's due 12/6. This will be her 5th. She is married to her second husband and it doesn't surprise me that they want kids together. They can afford it, she's healthy, got PG very easily; baby girl is healthy. She has 21 y/o twins, a 19 year old and a 17 year old. So she's really starting from scratch.

I am super happy for her and I'm so glad she called to tell me. I'm going to visit her in PHilly next month and I think I would have lost it if I found out by seeing her bump. I was so happy on the phone with her, but I cried when I hung up. Though if we get PG soon I am excited that our future LO will have a cousin closeish in age. But man, I'm bummed at myself for getting upset, especially so early on in our journey.

Nobody said life would be easy, they just promised it would be worth it.

  • ((Hugs!!))). You can't change how you feel, so don't try to repress the sadness or feel guilty. It's a very emotional issue and I wish you all the best!

Ditto.  The whole journey is very emotional. Big hugs to you.

  • I'm so sorry (hugs).  It's natural to feel that way, so don't feel bad about it.  I can tell you, that I still feel that way sometimes even though we gave up on conceiving and adopted.  Infertility involves alot of grief that those who haven't been through the struggle will never understand, so feel how you feel, and know that's it's okay.

  • I know how you feel. I'm almost 3 years into this and you'd think I'd get used to it, and I'm not. It's still hard to hear sometimes. Don't be mad at yourself, it's how you deal with this kind of news.
