DD's pedi recommended having her hearing and speech evaluated at her 2 year checkup. Her hearing screening is scheduled for next Tuesday and speech evaluation the following Monday. Just wondering if anyone else's DC has been through these and what I should expect. TIA!
Re: what to expect @ hearing/speech eval?
we have been trough this at the same age.
basically you will go with her in a room with her evaluator and they will sit down with her and playful ask her some questions... like colors, numbers, etc. maybe they will ask a few questions like 'is the ball behind the box?' the speech evaluation is probably the easier one out of the two. with the hearing our ds had to sit in a room (i was behind him) with a window and the evaluator on the other side (in a diff room) of the window asked him questions through a microphone. ds had headphones on and they checked his reaction to see if he heard them. there was a helper in our room to make sure he wouldn't touch buttons and such. but he had to sit for a while and listen... which was the hardest part for him.
hope this helps.

Thanks, ladies! I appreciate you sharing what you know!
Cat.. We are having both done at Children's. I called our insurance yesterday and both are covered. If she does need speech therapy, then they will cover 60 visits in a calendar year at 100%. We are very lucky to have our insurance!
