I've been putting 3 oz, our pedi told us between 2 1/2 - 3 oz but sometimes I wonder if that is enough because she still acts hungry the first few minutes after the bottle is empty. She weighs just about 11 pounds though.
Our DS is 10 weeks and 12 pounds. We had been putting 4 oz in, but lately he hasn't been taking nearly that much from the bottle and we've been wasting what was left (he just gets one bottle a day to prepare for when I go back to work). Sometimes he wants all four, but usually it's closer to 2 or 3 oz. We've started putting 2-2.5 oz in, and having more ready in case he still seems hungry afterwards. This way none gets wasted.
I have heard that a lot of BF babies will take less from a bottle during the day (at daycare), and will nurse more in the evenings to make up for it. I guess we'll find out what our LO does next week when I am back at work.
