I was just there last night! The food is excellent, I think you'll really enjoy it. Are you renting out one of the private rooms, or the whole place?
Yes, they renamed it the Tavern, but it's essentially the same as when it was the Lark Creek Inn.
The only downside I see is that the main dining room can get noisy, so talking with people at the other end of your table can get challenging if it's a busy night. But maybe if you're all up and mingling around, that wouldn't be a bad thing.

There's not a whole lot near downtown Larkspur. Um, there's a Best Western and the Marin Suites in Corte Madera right off the freeway. Or a B&B in San Anselmo. But I've never stayed in any of them, so I don't really know what they are like.
The Acqua Hotel is nice, if you want to come south on 101 a bit.
