I can't believe this! NBR

I finally got around to sending off my request to get my name changed on my passport a few weeks ago.  I was always so hesitant because I hate the idea of having to mail my original marriage cert.  And wouldn't you know, I received my new passport today and did NOT get my marriage cert back! :(

    You could have sent in a certified copy.  That is what I did..... you will get your old passport back with your certificate in another envelope.... should be there soon.

    That sucks!  This must have been a rule change, though, because when I had my passport updated last year, they accepted a certified copy.

    It might arrive in another envelope in a day or two. I had to send in my old passport to get my new one when I went back to my maiden name. To my surprise my old passport was sent back in a seperate envelope a couple of days later.

    No, you ladies are right about the cert copy.  It's just too hard for me to get out to get that copy with the 2 kids, and considering DD#1's diagnosis.  

    I decided that surely they could be responsible enough to return them and I have seen many posts on the boards and no one has ever had a problem, that I have read.

    Maybe it will come in a separate envelope?!?  If so, that's just not nice to give me a heart attack!

    I was just checking their website today to get ours renewed and get the girls some (my DH wants to take them to Mexico and see family some day), and they said the girls' birth certificates would be sent back under separate envelope, so hoping that's the case with your marriage cert!

    it'll come back, everything is in sep envelopes.

    yes, everyone is right!  it will come in another envelope.  i just did mine in oct and that's what happened with mine.

    If it makes you feel any better, we don't have our original marriage certificate.  We never got it.  (We moved 4 months after getting married and it must have gotten lost in the mail....)

    Thank goodness for certified copies.
