anyone get their tubes tied?

thinking about this since I am a scheduled c/s....they will already be in there as it is :-P

we are done having kids after these guys, I don't want to do any form of birth control after doing all the fertility treatments for two pregnancies and being on the pill for about 15 years....too many hormones for me :-P

Just curious if anyone else made this decision :-) I have OB appt friday and we will be discussing.

Re: anyone get their tubes tied?

  • I hope to be PG soon and I will be getting my tubes tied (unless the baby is stillborn). I'd love to have more kids but the clock is ticking and It would be nice to say "I'm done." We wanted four when we started trying 7 years ago but that wont workout now with our ages.

  • I'm in the same boat, and just had this chat with my OB.   I don't want to be the one with another miracle after 3 kids in less than 2.5 years.   Although a section isn't definite for me, if I do end up with one, they will do my tubes.    I had all the same arguments as you.  I figure even in the very unlikely event I'd want to try again, I have 2 frozen embryos, and wouldn't need my tubes anyway.     OB was completely on board, and put a note into my file in case one of her partners does my delivery.    If I don't have a section, DH will be getting snipped, and my OB said the 2 procedures were about equally effective.
  • I had my tubes tied at delivery.  We were hoping for a vaginal delivery but ended up needing an emergeny C/S and the doctor knew going into it that if I needed a C/S he was to tie by tubes.  I think I reminded everyone of that fact the day the boys were born Smile

  • I only have one tube but if I have to have a c/s, I definitely plan on getting it tied. The odds of me getting pg on my own are next to zero, but I figure if they're in there anyway...

Seriously I could have typed this post myself lolol fertility meds, pill and appt on Friday hahahahaha wow

  • if it ends with a c/s then yes I have already completed the forms to do it.  I am done and 100% don't want to even be pregnant again.
  • As soon as those two lines showed up on the HPT I was done. I was going to be a one and done-er. Friggen weak a#$ eggs had other plans. If you are going to do it, talk to your OB often about being serious. They will ask you again on the table if you're sure you want to do it and if you waiver at all, they won't do it.

  • I did, signed the papers the week before my c/s. We thought that if I wasnt going to have one my husbadn would get the big v but my twins stayed breech.

My dr asked me when he checked on me, when I walked to the OR he asked again, and then in the OR they asked me what I was having done. If I would have made it sound like I wasnt ready to have my tubes tied, they wouldnt have done it, thats why they ask so much.

  • thanks everyone :-)

Dh doesn't want to get sniped...something about men super attached to their boys, lol! I am not attached and its my body that I'd be giving more meds, just don't want to do it nor do I want the expense or have to worry about it :-P

I am 32...3 kids under 3, done and done :-)

  • Yes. The twins were number 3 and 4 for me.  I signed the consent and had a tubal ligation right after my C Section.  It took them a bit longer than a normal section would because of this, but not much.  I have not noticed any problems or additional pain from it.  I am glad i did it.
