i'm a t2 diabetic and my husband and i are going to ttc once i get cleared by all my doctors. just wondering if anyone else here is a diabetic ttc, prego or have gone through this?
i've already been cleared by my pcp and ob, but i have to get on insulin and get cleared by my endo before we can start trying. it's just been kinda stressful already. i'm just looking for support from people who've done it.
thanks,
ab
Re: any other diabetics ttc?
I haven't, but you can post on Trying to Get Pregnant and see if anyone else is TTC with your same diagnosis. You may want to lurk a bit before you post.
Good luck!
My husband and I will be TTC in about a month. I am more pre-diabetic than anything. My PCP has told me that if I do certain things I can get it under control and could get off of the meds that I take.
I do know the risk and it does concern me, however I have chosen not to have that stop me from TTC. I guess mostly because I am not in need of insulin and my diet and meds seem to regulate it pretty well.
But I'm very very very new to TTC, so as it was said before lurk around on the that board and it's likely you will find someone who has actually experienced. Good Luck to you!
I have Type 2 and I have a 16 month old daughter.
Just make sure you follow your OBs instructions regarding any meds/diet/exercise, etc and things should be OK.
I was on oral meds until I found out I was pregnant and then was put on insulin right away. It wasn't a big deal to give myself injections at all (but I'm not afraid of needles).
Thanks to the insulin I had really good blood sugar control with no complications and a healthy/happy sweet little girl.
Good luck!
Well, I'm beginning the "Pregnant with Type 2 Diabetes Journey" right now...I'm type 2 diabetic, borderline more so than 'full blown', not on any meds for now and 6 1/2 weeks pregnant. My sugar seemed to immediately go up when I found out I was pregnant, though. Congratulations on deciding to take the first (few) steps towards having a healthy 9 months. I wish you luck TTC! It took my hubby and I almost 2 years, but I can't be sure the cause. I'll be happy to keep you updated on what I'm going through and what may be helpful diabetic pregnancy specifics I learn along the way if you'd like. So far, I'm on a restricted and hard to follow diet my endocrinologist put me on (hopefully my first appt with my dietitian will help!!) and can't eat anything! Ok, I'm exaggerating but still, it's pretty annoying when you throw in diabetic food restrictions on top of the pregnancy food restrictions, it gets pretty unbearable and I've only been doing it a couple weeks!!
Anyways, the endo is telling me insulin is most likely in my immediate future and I go back after following the 'diet from hell' and recording my glucose readings 6 times a day for 2 weeks. Other than that, I feel good. No morning sickness, but I keep hearing that may be just around the corner. Mostly I'm just tired and a little worried. Again, good luck!

thanks ladies. i'm just trying to figure it all out still. we haven't started ttc yet. in another week or so my endo is going to start me on insulin in preparation.
there's just so much to keep in mind. i know it can be fine, doesn't stop me from worrying, though.
