She has a 10 month old. I forget what we were initially talking about, but I had mentioned that DS was still rear facing. She says "Really? I thought you turned them around at a year". I said "Well you can, but it's much safer to keep them RF as long as possible" I explained about the whole "they can cross their legs if they get too long, and that broken legs are better than a broken neck". You know the usual things.
So she said "wow I had no idea! I am so glad you told me" I said "I hope you don't think I am telling you what to do with your child". She said "No No! I am grateful for the info and will keep James in his seat rear facing for as long as I can"
Re: Educated my friend about extended rear facing
Pretty much all my friends/family forward face at a year. And they all ask why I RF Brighton.. after I tell them they still all keep them forward... sometimes I feel like a jerk for sharing that "my kid is safer" though I always just explain why with no judgment or preaching. But I still feel weird.
Glad your friend was receptive!
