Nearby vacation spot?

We're new to Illinois, and we're looking for a place to go for a long weekend.  We'd like to go somewhere that's within a three hour drive from Chicago.  We'd like it to have a nice beach, quiet, and baby friendly, of course!  Any suggestions?

    You may want to try New Buffalo or Michigan City. They are much closer than the three hours. They are very popular and you can find places to stay that are right on the beach. If you are trying to get away from Lake Michigan, I would suggest Galena or Lake Geneva. The only thing is that they'll have a beach, but they won't be like the ones on Lake Michigan (smaller). I think you'd like all of those places :)

    Galena is beautiful! DH and I went a few years ago in the summer. Very hilly and has lovely downtown area. We did horseback riding, but that's obviously a nono with you being pg.  Then there's also Lake Geneva which is has some nice hotel areas. You could also try homeaway.com for rentals.
