Ugh, I'm dreading this! I want to try EPing now so I'll be looking for these responses!! If I were to make a guess, though, I'd probably get enough for 2 days of feedings, so 12? Then if it's a bad day and I can't get to the dishes fast enough, I'll still have room for error. I'd say "just" use the Drop In system but apparently those who are a little obsessive end up washing them anyway after each feeding (ahem, me).
thomas&lynn- i use drop ins. and i wash all the parts. formula/milk touches them all. how could you not clean it??
The only parts that touch formula or my son's mouth is the liner and the nipple. I rinse all the parts every use (besides the nipples, they get washed every use) and then wash them every couple of days.
Don't mean to hijjack but I wanted to comment that I really SHOULD just rinse the holder, ring, and cap to save time (and be able to use the system the way it was created to) but I seriously can't hold back. I've got the water and soap all there and I HATE the look of the holders when they have drooly hand prints on them. I use the premium holders so any sumdgies are very visible, unlike with the original holders.
I DO notice that formula makes more of a mess of things than BM, though, due to the powder getting in the grooves etc.
Wow, I'm in the minority...and so are my bottles. I have 4 5oz Playtex VentAire's w/ the same # of nipples. I send her to daycare w/ one bottle and two medela refills tho, so only use one bottle a day... Daycare provider rinses the bottle between feedings and sends her home w/ all three water rinsed.
Re: How many bottles and nipples do you have?
we have 8 bottles, 6 nipples. i want to buy 2 more (medium flow) nipples. we wash/ make bottles about once/ day.
love the pic of alaina flipping the bird.
