Postpartum Depression

Fish oil for anxiety

Has anyone heard of taking "Fish Oil" to help treat depression? After my DD was born I suffered severe baby blues. My Dr. said it was not depression and would nt treat me with meds. I slowly got through it on my own, and now I feel great. Although some days I feel very anxious and sad..nothing to crazy, but definatly not my normal self. I was just researching online and found alot of evidence that taking a fish oil capsule a day can help with your mood alot..especially anxiety. Anyone heard anything to this also?

Re: Fish oil for anxiety

  • I have heard of this but can't confirm. What I can tell you is besides helping with hair and nails (good but not purchase worthy maybe) FO does so many good things for the bodies. There are very few Eskimos with cancer and this is apparently linked to the their diet of primarily fish. Not to mention the tons of other health benefits. I read Dr. Perricone's book on fish oil and there are so many health benefits that even if it didn't help with anxiety, which I heard it can do but don't know how valid that is, it is a great supplement to use anyway. HTH!
