Does DC use a bedrail in twin/full bed?

We are getting Ethan's room together and I just realized I haven't really thought about using a bedrail.  We have a twin bed and one side will be against a wall.  He's always a wiggle worm in his crib so I think we need a bedrail.  Then there's DH who says "what's the worst that can happen?" I would feel much safer with him having a bedrail.  If you use one, let me know if you recommend yours.  If you did not use one, what was your experience?

Thanks!
Miranda

Re: Does DC use a bedrail in twin/full bed?

  • When I put DS in a regular bed, I did use a rail.  That was years ago, and I have no idea what I used.  It gave me much peace of mind, but it did not help a second with the bedtime struggles.  He would shimmy his behind down to the end of the bed and wreak havoc or call out.  I have no solution except lots of patience.

  • We are going to put Caleb in a full and I want to get a rail for one side.  I have not even begun to look into it, but I would feel much safer because when he was in bed with us last week (see post below) he was all over the place all night long.

  • DD does. She needs it. The one we use is OK (I think it's Summer Infant), but on vacation they had this one and we loved it! It's really tall.

  • We use a bedrail for DD to keep her from falling out which is does perfectly fine. As Hav2Run stated it doesn't keep her from crawling out of bed and wandering around her room. We knew she would be getting out of bed, we opted for a bedrail to keep her from falling out.

  • Yep, we have one for DS's full sized bed.  One side against the wall, the other has a bed rail.

  • Ben sleeps in a full bed and he sleeps on one specific side (mind you when he was in the crib he was ALL over the place and still does that if he sleeps with us) I put a rail up on the one side but not the other and we havent had any issues.

  • We have rails on the girls' twin beds.  They definitely needed them when they were starting out.  Now it's sort of a PITA because they are used to having them there.  So it's more difficult when we travel and there's no bedrails.  I think we just need to take them off and let them fall out a few times so that they get used to not having bedrails there.  But we haven't done that yet.

  • We don't have rails on Hudson's bed.  One side is against the wall, but he never rolled out of his toddler bed so we just never got one for his big boy bed and we have never had any roll outs.
  • We have a rail on DS's twin bed :-)  He could probably go without it now since he has been in it for about a year now but I feel safer with it there :-)

Our kids are 19mths apart and we LOVE it!!
