Sippy Cup of Water at Night

ok, so it was only 4 months ago when we finally got orion to sleep in his bed, all night. But now we have a new problem. the Sippy. He HAS to have it to go to bed. and still wakes up during the night and asks for a refill. I know this has to go away before we could ever fully PT, because  some nights he overflows his diaper. any ideas on how i can do this with out it being WW3? he does share a room with Lexi so i want to get this taken care of before she starts school at the end of august.

  • My boys usually get a sippy to drink before bed. If they don't finish it, it gets taken away with me when I turn out the lights. We've never experienced the waking in the middle of the night asking for more water so I can't say that I know what to do with that. But if it were me, I would just start cutting back on the amount and go from there (give him only 1/2 of the sippy at night and tell him that's all he gets until morning). But then again, I also wouldn't want to have them go thirsty so I can see the big dilemma. :(
  • No suggestions here. My kid sleeps with a Camelbak in his bed. When I attempt to "hide" it or take it away he yells, "MOOOOOOOOOMMMMY, I can't find my damn water bottle." Awesome.

    LOL Smile

My kid sleeps with a cup of water too and honestly I see no issues with it.  He wakes up and drinks it often, even at nap and then lays back down.  If it keeps me from going in, I'm all for it!

  • We had the same problem with Ryan - I just kept putting less and less water in it until we got rid of all sippies. :)
Nobody said life would be easy, they just promised it would be worth it.
