In my community they have several - including infant care, birthing and BF. When did you take classes, if any, and/or what would you recommend? Thanks!
We took a birth class, baby care class, and a BFing class. I would recommend taking those kind of classes. They were all really helpful in their own way. We took them around 30w, but with twins I would bet that you should take them a little earlier.
We took baby care, labour and delivery, breastfeeding, and emergency response classes at the hospital. I think they spanned weeks 30-34 or something like that.
I did not like our breastfeeding class, but that was probably because of the teacher, who spent too much time telling us that "formula is evil" and "women who fail didn't try hard enough" and not enough time telling us what challenges we might face and how to solve them. I felt that we had already covered the most important practical breastfeeding advice during the lengthy breastfeeding segment of the baby care class.
In Hamilton there are prenatal classes offered by the city...we took those...It was 8 weeks and the final class was when I was about 36 weeks pregnant...they covered baby care, pregnancy, breastfeeding (great help), postpartum...something like that would be good if you could find that.
At Mac? I love love loved Mac for both of my pregnancies and deliveries.
With Reed I had a placental abruption and was at Mac every week from 29 weeks on for ultrasounds and monitoring. His delivery was scary due to his heart rate dropping and me bleeding BUT I felt like the whole team was excellent.
With Penny, my delivery and pregnancy were both much less dramatic. I delivered Penny after an hour and a half of labour. They broke my water to induce me and she came very quickly. My nurse stayed with me the whole time...no epidurals:)
