Daycare recs in Kingstowne area?

Hi ladies! I know a few of you live around this area, do you have any good recs (or places to stay away from) for an In-home Daycare? I'll be returning to work soon, I have found someone I like but still would like to hear your recs.

Also, the only Daycare Center available is Kindercare, but can't find any reviews for it, is it any good?

TIA!

Re: Daycare recs in Kingstowne area?

  • There are two Kindercares in/around Kingstowne, stay away from them both. One is on the corner of Beaulah across from Lane Elementary. The other is on Franconia past Edison High School. They have lots of violations and it's just an all-around crappy school.

Chesterbrook is awful as well. High turn-over and lots of violations.

Little Acorn Patch and Northern Virginia Academy are great but LAP doesn't take kids till 18 months. I would check out both though. Very high end schools.

There is also La Petite behind Manchester Lakes Shopping Center. I have a friend who goes there and likes it but from what I've read, I was not impressed at all.

  • For in-home daycares, I'd suggest checking out the Kingstowne-Franconia Childcare Network.

That's how we found our daycare person and we love her!  Good luck with your search.

We go to CBA and honestly LOVE IT!  DS has been going there since 2 months old and has had the same teachers the whole time.  In fact, they are the same teachers that were there when we first toured CBA over a year ago!  DS is so well cared for, I am very hands on there and have gotten pretty close with some of the teachers there, not just in his classroom, so I get phone calls, pictures, emails, all sorts of feedback on how DS day is going.  I can't speak for the older classrooms, but if I had to do it all over again, I would choose CBA in a heartbeat.

A few people told me the that CBA was awful when we first signed up and I wasn't sure about it, but come to find out, the only people who have told me so are people who do not send their kids there themselves.  LHartman, I'm not sure where you got your intel from, but coming from a mom who send their child there, it couldn't be further from the truth.

Our second choice was Northern VA Learning Academy at the corner of Bealuah and Telegraph.  There were good, but I felt they were a little cold.

  • Thanks for all the feedback ladies :)
  • ScotSailor, I got my feedback from people I know that had their kids there and pulled them out because it was filthy, the teachers were awful, there flies and on and on.

A woman I knew would cry every day when she left her kid there until she could find better care.

Another friend of mine took a tour and literally left crying because she could never imagine leaving her children there.

The violations on the Fairfax County site alone are appauling and frightening and they date back for years. I checked not that site not that long ago and their track record isn't much better. And one of the complaints was about high turnover and inexperience of the teachers.
