Cal just started saying "Mummy" a lot in the last month or so - he's been able to say it forever, but just didn't use it much. We heard much more "Daddy" than "Mummy" for a long time. At first, he was using it randomly - mostly when he would see me, or when Daddy would say "Where's Mummy?" or something. Not usually with purpose, to get my attention, you know (same went for "Daddy")?
But just in the last couple of days (at 19.5 months) he has started to use it when he needs me. Like, this morning, he was in his crib hanging out while I was getting ready for work, and all of a sudden I heard "Mummy!" and it was clear that he was calling me, trying to get my attention.
I like that. ![]()
Re: When did LO start calling for you by name?
How cute! I sometimes get Mama when she wakes up crying, but otherwise it's pretty rare.
Your question reminded me of a funny story about my niece (22 months). When she wants her dad (my BIL) when he's upstairs, she stands at the stairs and yells his first name. Gee, think she's heard my sister do that much?! Cracks me up.
Just wait until he calls you by your given name. It is so cute! Betsy will yell Mommy, Mommy, Mommy, Amy, Amy, Mommy. And then when she if I am still not answering, she will call me by DH's pet name for me-Beans.
We almost died laughing the first time she called me Beans.
