first, my left nipple cracked (right at the base of the nipple) and the pain was terrible. well, after realizing I needed to be more careful with her latch on that side, it seemed like it was getting getting a little better. but now, my right side is cracked and bleeding. :::sigh:::

i know this is probably entirely my fault, getting over confident and not being as careful as i should with her position and latch, but after almost 8 weeks, I figured we had this thing down. guess not.

Set backs suck - but they happen. If you can, spend a few hours topless. Seriosly the best thing you can do for sore nips!

Lanolin will help A LOT, cake it on and wear breast pads and it will get better soon.

ouch, ouch, OUCH!!

I can totally empathize - I've had a big crack along each nipple since he was 10 days old. The left just healed up totally 2 days ago. The right is getting there. Take care of yourself - if you need recs on healing, let me know! (Of course given how long it took me, maybe you don't!!)

I used Polysporin with DD per LC recommendation and they healed up. Having the same issue this time around and she said to add 1% hydrocortisone(sp) with the polysporin.
