Two Under 2

Nursery for baby #2

Now that we know baby #2 is another girl I have to start planning a nursery and ordering furniture.

I LOVE Hallie's nursery but am sort of at a loss for what to do for this one.  We have been furniture shopping and really the only set that I love is the one we got for her (convertable crib, dresser, night stand and rocker). https://www.munirefurniture.com/urban_01.htm

I guess my question is would it be weird to get the same furniture for baby #2 but do different wall colors and art?  DH thinks I am nuts but I feel like I am giving baby #2 my second choice since the store is almost the same as it was when we shopped the first time.

Re: Nursery for baby #2

  • We got the same furniture for this baby that we have for Sofia and Ava.  We also painted the walls the same color.  And are using the same sheets since we have so many of them.  I don't think it is weird.

  • I don't think that's strange at all.

We handled the nursery situation by moving DD into her 'big girl room' from the nursery several months ago.  So, baby #2 will have the same nursery that DD did.  The nursery is actually a separate part of our bedroom, so eventually this new baby will move out of the nursery too - probably once he's over a year old and stops breastfeeding.

  • I don't think it's weird to get the same furniture but do different colors, etc. If you like it, why not?!

  • I don't think it is weird to get the same nursery furniture again, especially if you love it and it has held up well!

ETA: Love that furniture, by the way!

  • I don't think its crazy at all!  We've been considering doing the same thing - ours is munire also but the newport collection.
  • We got the same crib for this baby and just ordered a tall dresser for DD1 and put the dresser/changer combo in the new babys room. I like the fact that if we ever move I can mix there pieces to fit different rooms. Or if they ever have to share a room everything will match. We did get a whole new bedding set and are decoratating differently.

My DS is going to have a pink poodles in Paris nursery (ie not redoing the nursery), so that's probably weirder than buying identical furniture!
  • DS's nursery/room still isn't really finished.  We bought a crib off of Craigslist that happened to be the same style/manufacturer as DD's but in a different color.

I may have his room done by the time he turns two.
