Is anyone else having a hard time with their Target registry? I've had four things completely discontinued and now our car seat and a few other things are out of stock for an "undetermined amount of time." My shower is September 11th and we're sending out invitations next week.

Originally, I picked Target because we don't have a BRU anywhere near us and it was just easier to pick out instore items, but now I feel like I can't depend on anything actually being available.

Should I just deal with it and switch to BRU?

You could register at both, but be careful so you don't register for duplicates. As mentioned once before on this board, I advise against registering for stuff just to have stuff on your register that's in-stock. If anything, people will get you gift cards or more blankets and clothes. *shrugs*

Target is having a major baby clearance right now (scored great deals last night) as new items are coming out first of August. BRU is also introducing new big things & have discontinued my original crib & other big items.

Stores change inventory every few months. Just update your registry with a new item. If your original comes back, return the substitute.

It's not just Target. The carseat that we picked at BRU went clearance recently also. I ended up just buying it myself which was great because I got it for less than $100 (it was $160).

I've heard horror stories too and avoided registering there. It happens though. One of the items we registered for at BRU is being discontinued. I'm either going to buy it myself if the price is right or pick out something new. If I were you, I would either register at BRU, there might be one near people shopping for you, or request gift cards. GL!

How do you know if an item of yours is going to be discontinued or is? Does it just say out of stock or something?

For me, I went to the store and saw "discontinued" tags on it. Otherwise I don't know how I would've known. Maybe it would fall under a different category online?!

Target just marked down a lot of their baby items and are replacing with new items. The manager told me it would be best to come back and reregister after August 1st. He said they do this every July and January.

July is one of 2 months where Target completely changes out their baby stuff and picks up new patterns and colors. January is the other month. I used to work at Target. Sorry for your luck!

I chose not to register at Target after attemping to purchase items for my friends who did register there. I've had numerous friends register there and i always have a hard time finding the items in store. It will either say "Out of Stock", "Online only", or even when it says it's in stock it is no where to be found. I get so fed up I usually just buy them something from another baby store or something off their registry. I am planning on registering at Buybuybaby and maybe BRU just because it's more convenient to everyone.

this! I work at target, and twice a year they get tons of new baby stuff in, and they have to make room for it by clearancing and discontinuing old stuff. it kinda sucks, but lots of times you or the people purchasing for you can get great deals because of it.
