Birthday gift ideas for 4 year olds

It's the start of our birthday season (lots of twin friends, family, etc). I have a LONG list of kiddos to buy for. Money is very tight so I'd like to do combo gifts for the twin friends. I'd like to do something different---not just buy what toy they don't have.

What combo gifts would be good for some of our twin friends? GCs to a paint your ceramic place? GC to a play place, i.e. some sort of Discovery museum or where else? I'm even trying to think about something that is green/eco-friendly.

Also, what can I give to our niece? She'll be turning 3 just a few days after the boys and I'd like to get her something other than toys (they live in a SUPER tiny house so space is a huge issue).

What ideas can you ladies toss around? ;)

TIA!

Are there any memberships that are affordable?  Like zoo, kids museum, even a month or two of a class? (more for your niece)

Another cheap idea that we love is our subscription to Animal Baby- I'm super into subscriptions for kids- they love getting the mail- and it could work as a combo for the twins, right?

  • No idea about where you live, although I'd imagine it's similar, but I've seen some great Groupon's lately that could totally be given as gifts - movie theater passes, amusement park passes, kids cooking classes, etc.  I'd keep on eye on your local deals and gift those.
  • How about a family fun night pack? A board game or movie, some popcorn, a couple of Capri Suns for the kids...

For your niece, we've started giving Faith dress up stuff; I made her couple of skirts in crazy fabrics, and when I see fun accessories at Goodwill or wherever, I'll pick them up. She's getting totally into that kind of thing!

I haven't heard of Groupon...I must be living under a rock. ;) Running over there now to see what deals I can score! ;)

Good idea on getting accessories for dress up---she's getting a couple of princess dresses from Disneyland as her big gifts so maybe I'll look for some more shoes. I gave her a set last year and she's down to the last pair. ;)

Speaking of which, I do know she wants a pair of purple cowboy boots...wonder where I can find those? ;)

  • I think movie passes would be fun, and I always think board games are a good idea. I was actually shocked when D sat through playing candyland when we were in FL. Also art stuff like maybe some crafty things from Michael's? I know you can use your 50% off thing and they often have kits kids can put together.

For the 4 year old, dress up is great. Also accessories are fun too like a purse with a wallet and maybe a small GC to TRU?
