I'm really pissed off at my handheld monitor. I woke up this morning at 8:00 thinking that my sweet baby had slept since our middle of the night feeding only to discover that I could hear faint crying from her room. The stupid FUC.KING monitor although it was ON and I could see the picture...there was a "no signal" alert on it. Which meant that it froze and stopped working. It showed a peacefully sleeping and swaddled baby...when in truth she was a complete mess.
I have absolutely NO idea how long Natalie was crying but it was long enough for her to get almost entirely out of her swaddle --- her eyes were very red and she actually had tears. I'm heartbroken and feel incredibly guilty and so pissed. Now I feel like I can't trust this $200 monitor!!!
Has anyone else had a problem with their monitor?
Re: Issue with summer handheld video monitor?
We have had the same issue! Is it this one?
My husband says it crashed when it's done that. (Being that it's digital and all.) Very frustrating, though we love the monitor!
We just got ours and it hasn't had issues yet. However, while I use it for video, I still rely on our Graco monitor for sound. We got the Graco before G was born, and are now using the video monitor solely for video.
Sorry I can't be of help. I realize it's frustrating, and if you still have the warranty card, I'd exchange it.

this is the one I have:
Don't have one myself but have read sub par reviews on Costco since they do sell one that is similar to the one you have. Sounds like this is a known issue for their video monitors.
We don't have that model, got the older one when Amazon had it on sale, but we've had no issues with ours at all. After having seen them raved about on the national boards for well over a year, I've never seen that issue mentioned. It makes me wonder if it's an issue with that new model, maybe a new bug that didn't get worked out? Summer has an incredible reputation for superior customer service so I would call them and see what they have to say. If it's an issue they are experiencing with that model you might think about buying the slightly older model, and hey it's usually on sale too.
This is the one we have...on sale @ Amazon for $130 right now.
This is what we have but we haven't had any issues with it...it works great and is actually one of my favorite baby purchases.
I had the exact same problem. I purchased mine at BRU and exchanged it because it kept freezing up. If you can't exchange it, call Summer infant to send a replacement.
This is what we have and I've never had the same problem. The only issue I've had is excessive static...after I dropped it on the floor. I wouldn't even mess with trying to exchange it from where you bought it. Call Summer...their customer service is the best. They've replaced our monitor twice without question.
