Indiana Babies

things for people to help with around the house

Todd's sister is coming over today to help--she's awesome, loves to clean, and will do whatever we want.  What would you have her do?

I think I'm going to have her do some of the baby's laundry (didn't want to wash some of the newborn clothes until I knew how big she was), clean out the fridge and microwave, and mop the floors.  What else would be on your list for her?

  • I'd probably just want basic things done like dusting, vacuuming, dishes, laundry, etc.  Especially anything with a lot of bending/reaching and things that would require you to walk up and down the stairs a lot.  In my experience, after a c-section you really do need to take it easy on that stuff, even if you think you feel ok at the time.  It will come back to bite you in the ass!

Honestly, I might just have her keep an eye on the baby so I could shower and nap lol

DITTO!!!!  I know I waaaay overdid it the first week or two after having Ellie and I paid for it.  The stairs killed me.

  • I agree with PP's. Have her do the things that require more lifting/bending/reaching and definitely watch the baby so you can shower or nap a bit! :)  Oh, and one thing that really helped me out was having them prepare dinner. Even if it was something as simple as pulling a pre-made frozen dinner out to thaw and popping it in the oven before they left...it was one less thing I had to think about (when I already had a million things going on in my head)!
