did i ruin my diapers?

Hello - this is my first time posting on the eff board but i'm a lurker.

Becase of an unforseen situation, I needed to use sposies for the first three weeks of my lo's life.  The cd's that I ordered arrived today, one day too late. This morning my lo got a horrible diaper rash. I've had one hellofaday, so in my excitement and rush to get my cd's ready I threw them all in the same wash because I wasn't thinking clearly.

I had chinese prefolds - un preped, fuzzi buns with inserts, and thirsties covers that I washed together.Only one cycle, now I'm doing seperate. Do you spoose I ruined them because of the oils in the various materials? I sure hope not.

    No, as long as you weren't washing hemp I'm sure you're fine!

    Probably not though if your FB start repelling you'll know why.  The FB and Thirsties covers are set to go after 1 wash so you can start using them right away.  The prefolds will need to be prepped which should take 2-4 more washes.

    I don't think it's a general washing issue, just a hemp prep issue.  At least I hope. I've never seperated out my hemp once it was prepped.

    Diapers are never ruined (unless of course you've burned, ripped or otherwise mangled them) :)  Just wash wash wash until what is 'broken' is fixed again.

    I would think they are just fine.  You will want to give all of your natural fibers several hot washes alone.

    Nothing.  That's just for prepping.  All natural fiber dipes (hemp, cotton, etc...) need to be prepped together to wash out the oils that keep them from being absorbent.  If you do this prepping with synthetic fibers in as well they can soak up some of those oils and start to repel.  As long as you prep separately then you're find to wash together from then on.
