Visiting Seattle

I hope no one minds my barging in on your local board but I was really hoping someone could recommend some things to see/do in Seattle and the surrounding area.  DH, DD and I will be there for my brother's wedding in early October and we have several days to ourselves.  Can anyone steer me in the right direction?  TIA!

Re: Visiting Seattle

  • Good things to see are the Space Needle, EMP, Seattle Center could be fun for your DD. Also if you are into burgers and fries, try a ***'s Drive In- there are a few in Seattle. Pike Place Market is fun too, lots for the little one to look at. There is also the zoo and aquarium, depending on how old your dd is.

  • You  can get  Seattle City Pass. It costs $60 and it gives you entry to the Seattle sceince center, EMP, 2 trips up the Space needle, the aquraium, the zoo. It's good for 9 days after you purchase.

  • Pike Place Market is a must if you've never been here. So is Seattle Center. If you like to shop, Pacific Place has the flagship Nordstroms right across the street and if you are outdoorsy you can visit REI which is cool. There is a ton of good food around. You'll see salmon on the menu everywhere. Tom Douglas (quintessential Seattle) has several places, my fav is Etta's.Bunch of cool breweries like the Pyramind by Safeco Field. There are a ton of cool neighborhoods to check out. Alki Beach is a great place to see the sunset on a beautiful night. Seattle is a pretty cool city to visit.

  • Well, I'll give you some basics:  Seattle Center (amusement park, monorail to Westlake Center-shopping-Space Needle, Seattle Science Center and the butterfly house), culture, and if it's a warm day, the INternational Fountain.

Pike Place Market is always a fave and the Seattle Aquarium is just below there on the water.

Ballard Locks are cool. Have fun...it's great here...but don't tell anyone!

  • Sorry for the repeat info...I started this post before dinner...just finished it!  LOL!
  • Rent a car and do some driving.  October can still be a nice time of year to see Mt. Rainier, go to Leavenworth or do a drive around the Olympics.

  • I'd recommend checking out Groupon and Living Social - they're daily deal sites (I've used both), and you can select the city, so you can find deals on restaurants and fun stuff in Seattle - cupcakes, shows, trapeze lessons, tours etc.

    https://www.groupon.com/seattle/area/seattle/

It's easiest to sign up for the emails, and they don't sell your address to anyone which is nice.

I recently discovered this one too...

Also, if you have your little one, our own StellaZ keeps a blog of fun stuff to do (most of it is geared towards kids, but I would do a lot of this stuff sans kids in a heartbeat).

    Hope this helps!
