Northern California Babies

I know I asked this before...

Any remedies for the burning and itching due to the skin on my belly stretching?  While on vacation I thought it was heat rash or chafing, but I'm pretty certain it's due to me and baby getting bigger.  My belly is on fire and really uncomfortable, especially when I'm sitting.

So far I've tried Palmer's stretch mark cream, Gold Bold, Baby Bee no-talc powder, hydrocordisone cream and ice.

Any other recommendations?

  • I would mention it at your next doc's appt. Stretch marks can get infected and if you're feeling really itchy and irritated, you might be dealing with this. I don't have any other recommendations, but I hope it feels better soon!

  • I used pure aloe vera on my belly when it was really itchy.  In the summertime I put it in the fridge before using - felt amazing.
  • I used BIO OIL during my pregnancy and on the days I felt that way I just used it twice, once in the am and once after I put my pj's on before going to bed.

  • I'm sure everyone has their recommendations.  I liked Cocoa Butter body butter by The Body Shop.
  • The only thing that consistently worked for me was straight oil. I used kukui nut oil that I got in Hawaii but I'm sure there are others that would be easier to find- even olive oil, maybe?

This stuff is the bomb. Someone gave me a bottle of it, and i loved it. There will be some itching but this really helps and also prevents stretch marks. I know that is largely genetic but the person who gave it to me was prone to stretch marks (got them in puberty!) and not one in pregnancy.

  • Do you have actual stretch marks?  Do any of them have hives or bumps?  I don't want to freak you out but I had a debilitating skin condition in the third trimester that started the way you describe and I would be happy to share my experience (but seriously don't want to freak you out if it really is just skin stretching).

  • i used tummy honey butter. i liked it & loved the smell.
  • I think I've heard about what you're referring to...PUPPS. I looked it up and it sounds really scary! So far no stretch marks, rash or hives, but I will definitely keep an eye on it!
