Hi all, this is my 1st post-I haven't even filled out my profile info. yet-we have been ttc for 6 mths-I am 36. Anyhow, my cycles have been getting longer and longers since I've been off the pill. (started w/30 day cycles, now I'm on day 41 of my current cycle & about to get AF) I have been using OPK, which show that I am ovulating-but I have been reading that if cycle = >35 days you should be concerned. I called to make dr appt, but can't get in for another month-& I am probably going to go insane worrying about everything that could possibly be wrong w/me. I have had issues w/acne & hair in weird places & (lately) painful & emotional periods, but not overweight & appear to be ovulating - is pcos still possible? are there other possible causes of long cycle? anyone w/similar experience or advice?
I know I probably shouldn't be speculating at all-but I can't help it. I also know that many of you have been trying much longer than me-so I hope I don't come across as whiny/overreactive-I just have a feeling something is definitely wrong.
Re: ttc over 6 mths-LONG cycle-help?
Hi and welcome to the board. Its really hard not to stress out about this stuff - esp when you feel like your body isn't working correctly. I think its good that you made a Drs appt. Did you call the OB or an RE?
Long cycles aren't my problems so I don't know alot from personal experience but I do know lots of women on these boards have long cycles and plenty of them are able to get pregnant. Are you ovulating early in your cycle and having a long luteal phase or does it just take you a long time to ovulate?
Hi...welcome to the board. I don't have issues w/long cycles...but hopefully some of the ladies that do will respond. And as far as PCOS, have you been dx with it? Or are you just wondering if you have it?
I agree with pp (previous posts) about stressing out...it's hard not too; just remember that no question is a stupid question and the dr is working for you. Are you seeing an OB or an RE?
GL!
Mc15,
Hi and welcome. I have no experience with long cycles but am sure those that do will come to your aid.
I don't have any answers for the PCOS, I don't even remember what that is. You'll have your answers soon, once you've been tested by your doctor. Hang in there!!
Hi...I wish I had specific advice for you about long cycles but my only advice is to not waste time and just go straight to a RE. They have a standard set of tests and getting all those results will put your mind so much at ease. Even if there are deficiencies in your results you will KNOW about them and there are lots of things to address them. you'll have a plan of action. Good luck to you!!
