Extended rear facing question

We are planning on keeping Aubrey rear facing for as long as our carseat allows.  My question is this...right now she is in the middle...I'm wondering if we can move her to one side of the backseat after her first birthday, or should we just leave her in the middle?

    I don't know the answer, I just can't wait to hear what others say because I was thinking the same thing today! We had to buy Lucy a new seat b/c of height requirements and I also want to keep her rear facing. It just looks to big and bulky in the middle... looking forward to the responses!

    We  bought the Evenflo Symphony and it looks really bulky but the middle was the best place for it rear facing. When we have it on either side we have to put the front seat seating almost straight up (honda accord and Jeep cherokee) but it fits perfectly in the middle.

    Caroline is still RF'ing.  We keep her in the middle because our backseat has side impact airbags.  Also, when I had her carseat initially installed, the techs said that the middle is the safest place in the event of a side impact accident.

    I am going to leave him in the middle until we have another kid and have to put him on the side.

    We've had K on the right passenger side of our backseat since she was a newborn. I have a Honda CRV and the person who installed our carseats said that since my middle seat does not have the latch system, we had to put it on one of the side seats.

    K has been in her convertible seat for a while now and it's in the same place her infant carseat was.
