WDYT of when I say...

Re: WDYT of when I say...

  • Edward Cullen and Twilight.

  • Did you really have to ask this one to figure out the answer?
  • I don't read Twilight or know anything about the books or movies, so it's not what I think of. I actually kind of like this as a name.
  • Hmm, my mind went into the gutter.... I immediately thought of female oral sex....
  • Uh Twilight. For sure. And I'm not even a big fan.

Well not really, I'm not really into to twighlight so I thought it was a nice name. My friend told my it was the last name in twighlight (she said it like I was from under a rock) so I just wanted to see if EVERYONE else made the association.

  • I don't think you need to ask to figure out this answer... I mean, even most people that haven't read the books know the name. Nice name, but I think this particular one is a little too attached to Twilight.

Whoa, I did not see that one coming!!!

  • When I hear it as a first name, my thought process is something along the lines of, "Cute!" .. "I love surname-y names.." .. "Oh hey, Twilight!"

I'm a Twilight fan, but I only think "Cute!" when I hear it as a first name.
  • Definitely think of Twilight... and I don't like it.

For the record, I associate the name with Twilight, despite not being a fan.

But . . . worse still, is that it contains the word "cull," which loosely means to slaughter at birth. Not my choice of baby names, for sure.

  • I actually think of this adorable boy at The Little Gym when DD was taking a class there.  His name was Cullen.

ETA: And I also have never seen or read a Twilight book or movie, so I would have never made the association.

    Ack! Please, no...

What about Kellen/ Kellan for a boy? No weird association there. Or even Killian, but I'm not a fan of this one. (I knew a family with an Ian and a Killian, and I couldn't help but think that was pretty messed up.)

If you are joking, I laughed out loud.  I hope you're joking....? :)

Oh, and the only acceptable "Twilight" name for a girl is Renesmee. Ack,my eyes are bleeding after seeing that in print again!!

  • How about Collin or Kellan instead?  Very similar... not related to Twilight.
  • breath easy bumpies I was totally kidding about Kullyn.

I like some of the other suggestions, I just can't really fall in love with anything.

  • Twilight. But he's a cutie.
  • Twilight and an awful name anyway.....sorry.
  • I think of the word "Culling" as in getting rid of something. We have a chicken farm with chicken houses and the whole works. We have to "Cull" (kill) the sick, weak, and small chickens as they are growing.

I hope you mean Cillian. While Killian is a real name, it is the anglicized version and has that awful K as well as the actual word "kill" in it.

I think it is associated with Twilight now but in 10 years it wont be. I think it is a nice name.

Yes, I was referring to Cillian, in the Anglicized form. Following English pronunciation rules, if spelled traditionally it would be said with a soft 'c'. And it would still be pronounced 'Kill-ian'; hearing it, no one would be able to tell the difference, so why make spelling it that much harder? When living in North America, names do get Anglicized for convenience. If you lived in the UK, you wouldn't have that issue with this particular name.

You are lucky to have a good friend that told you about the Twilight association, and you didn't end up like this girl: https://community.thebump.com/cs/ks/forums/thread/38699553.aspx
