Hello. I'm from the 3T board and I had a question I was hoping someone could help me with. DH and I aren't giving up on me carrying our baby just yet, but the possibility of having to use a gestational carrier is getting more and more real due to a kidney problem. I was wondering if anyone used one and could tell me a little about the process? Is it difficult? Did your insurance pay anything at all? I just have a lot of questions about it. We would be using our own eggs/sperm. TIA.

Re: Gestational Carriers?
I have a friend who was an actual GC twice. She was through an agency, and would only recommend that route. Everything was in escrow which made the business side of it all more legit. There are couples with her agency who have insurance coverage for the egg retrieval, ect, but anything happening to the carrier was out of pocket.
I can give you more details if you want.
My e-mail is M_elizajane AT yahoo DOT com.
I know very little about that route, but I do know in my investigation into Int'l IVF, I learned there is a HUGE group in India that provides this service for very little money. From what I can tell, it's very popular with the same-sex couples wishing to have a family, and is insanely affordable. Of course, big bag of worms there with travel, etc. but just wanted to throw it out there in case you end up OOP. From what I gather, unless you provide your own friend/relative, it's very expensive. It's also not legal to do in some states.
GL!
