We had a bit of a scare last night. My MIL was watching Katie yesterday and I showed her how to give K Motrin since she had a slight fever on Sunday (100.3) I don't know if she did it right and she admits that she isn't sure. Regardless, when I got home I took K's temp and it was 104.6. I freaked out and called the pedi, who said to give her another dose of Motrin and some Tylenol a few hours later and see how she felt. And they want to see her today. Thankfully her fever was down to 103.1 after an hour and this morning it was 98.7, so I think she's in the clear, but damnit was that scary.
K's home today with my mom and my husband is going to take her to the pedi later this morning. Ugh! K's never had a high fever before and all I could think about was that story on one of the other boards about a baby/toddler who spiked a fever and died. Definitely the un-fun part of parenthood.
Re: Had a little scare with K last night
Those are the days I would work from home!
Sorry, I hope she is all in the clear!

I wish I could but I'm the only one in my office right now. Someone has to be here, so I'm stuck. Believe me, I'd rather be home with my baby!
Do you mean that MIL did give her Motrin, but isn't sure if K actually ingested it? Or that she didn't give enough? I'm not sure how that part plays into this...but yikes!! High fevers are scary. I'm glad it came down, though. Cal's spiked to 104 when he had Roseola last month.
LO #1 - 1 unmedicated/self-monitored IUI w/ donor sperm.
LO #2 - 1 m/c, 2 BFNs, 4th IUI worked (unmedicated/self-monitored with new donor sperm).
Life is beautiful!
Just that if she didn't pull the medicine up properly maybe K didn't get it all and not having the meds might have caused her fever to continue to rise.
Thanks for mentioning roseola. I mentioned it to my husband in case the pedi doesn't. I just read up on it and I guess we need to keep an eye out for a possible rash. She has many of the other symptoms, but I know they can be common for just about any illness.
Because we're fancy like that.
