bedtime help?

Allie didn't start STTN until 10 months.  I was able to lay her down at night awake and she wouldn't make a peep, then STTN.  We went on a crazy busy 4 night trip 2 weeks ago.  She slept with me in bed or the packnplay (horribly might I add).  We have been back from our trip for 8 nights now. The first night she screamed for an hour before she fell asleep. It has gotten better, but she is still crying/screaming for 10-30 minutes every night. She sometimes falls asleep on me, so I walk her to her room and she wakes up and immediately clings to me and starts screaming. Is this normal? I feel like she's scared of her crib or something. After she falls asleep, she STTN with some fussing throughout the night. Any ideas?

I hate letting her cry herself to sleep every single night. But I don't know what else to do.

Re: bedtime help?

  • Sometimes J has a hard time adjusting back to his crib after we've been gone for a while (or just randomly when he's trying to exert his independence with bedtimes). I just let him cry w/o going in there - it makes the transition so much easier than if I go in there. Less crying for less days.

  • vacations suck for this reason.  Nic cried two days for 25 mins and 15 mins respectively and seemed scared of the crib too.  He wanted to hang out with us but was clearly sleepy.  I think she is just realizing that mom and dad are much more fun that sleep.  Did you do CIO at 10 months, if you did then I would re ferberize to get her to her regular sleep pattern. We did do CIO at 10 months, and we can't go in either, bc it makes it way worse.  So I just have to let her cry.  I hate it.  I am just worried it has been 8 days and she is still screaming, when we did CIO at 10 months it only took a couple days.

I haven't made it that far yet, but I would assume this is because she's a bit older and a bit more aware that she's missing out on time with mom & dad while she's sleeping...even if that time would be spent sleeping with you.
