annoyed - NapNanny recall

I bought this and returned it b/c he was too big for it by the time I discovered it, but what's annoying is that the recall is for infant injuries/death from improper use.  It's not supposed to be used in a crib or playpen.  Can't people just READ and FOLLOW directions???

  • i have this in our registry but may have to take it out now. however, i do agree that people are using it where they're not suppose to!!

  • interesting - and agreed, people should follow the directions.  It looks like a cushy version of our rocking chair thing - something I would never let Jack sleep in unsupervised. He doesn't even sleep in it now that he can move.

*but he didn't have reflux or anything, I think sometimes doctors tell you to let them sleep in an infant seat or something...

  • it's just weird b/c there's nothing wrong with the product itself, just the way people use it.

I've seen this thing a million times but wondered why someone would buy it... to me it seems like a waste of money. For us the swing and bouncy worked perfect for helping B sleep when she was having a rough night... what's the purpose of this thing?
  • This is actually made for sleeping overnight in, where most bouncy seats and swings say not to let them sleep in overnight.  www.napnanny.com

Helps with congestion and reflux issues, which is why I bought it

Oh I get it... Bella never slept "overnight" well... she still doesn't! She's up usually twice. I would let her sleep in the swing for 2-3 hours though, we do it at the hospital, so I figured it was safe enough. I should add that I was always in the room with her.

My niece had terrible reflux and her pedi said to leave her strapped in the car seat so she would be more upright. My friends child has bad reflux and she has a thing that puts the crib mattress at an angle... I'm not sure where she bought it but she still uses it sometimes for him and he's 10 months old... let me know if you want me to find out the details of it. It's basically a foam wedge that goes under the mattress.

  • I agree about people following directions and monitoring their children when using ANY device, including a crib!  The death reported said the crib had bumpers...and the baby was between the NapNanny and the bumpers. Crying

Libby napped in her swing DAILY and sometimes more than once...many times it was the only way she'd nap!  We'd do the 5s, get her down and she'd sleep, swaddled in her swing for a good 2-3 hours.  Sadly, she's outgrown her swing...she LOVES that thing!

Exactly - that was my point!
