Clicky: When did your baby go bottle free??

We are behind, I know. But...in my defense, G has (maybe had, we're introducing slowly and so far so good) a milk protein allergy so I wanted to go slow on introducing milk.

I forsee myself trying to replace a bottle feeding with a meal feeding and a sippy with milk in it-- but keeping the am and pm bottles in place for a little longer, is that a decent plan or should I try something else??

    They were off by one year.  I made the transition over their 11th month.  They were down to 4 bottles.  I started with morning first.  Instead of a bottle first then solids, I gave them their formula in a cup with breakfast.  Then we did that with lunch and finally dinner.  They just naturally started drinking enough at those three meals to not need the 4th bottle.  It was totally painless and we just switched to milk cold turkey at 1 year.  (I had tried it in advance and they didn't seem to care.)

    I put by 18 months because that is our goal.  She gets a bottle of milk before her nap and before bedtime.  However, she hasn't used a bottle as a meal since she was 11.5 months old.

    I'll also add that 18 months isn't a huge goal.  If she is off by then, great.  If not, no big deal.  I don't believe that letting her have a bottle as she winds down to sleep is that big of a deal.  She'll stop when she is ready - we are just going to try and guide her to do so in the next 3 months!

    I think it was easier to transition to a sippy for us because we BFed until 12 months and he would only get a bottle at daycare or the occasional night out when my parents would watch him.  We slowly introduced a sippy of water with his meals around 8 months and it really took him awhile to get the hang of it.  We were consistent, as was daycare, and the sippy he ended up really preferring were the bigger kid ones like the Take N Toss cups (of course, after I spent tons of money all different ones with handles and softer spouts and whatnot).  By 12 months, he was on WCM/BM mix and I would give that to him in the Take N Toss sippys and then I would give him a bottle at bedtime.  We finally just let that go and he gets a sippy of milk about an hour before bed.  It seemed that really, really gradual did the trick and he didn't even notice.  All the bottles are all washed up and stored away in the back of a closet!  Anyways, I chose SS because he was completely on sippy's by 13 months.  GL!

    If you're behind, then so am I. Andrew is 14 months old and still takes all his milk from bottles. I've tried and failed to make the switch to sippies twice -- both times I gave in by the end of the second day, freaked out because he'd hardly had any milk.

    I guess I should try again soon...

    Katie was bottle free at a year but we did not go cold turkey. I started dropping bottles at around 11 months and did one at a time replaced by sippy cups. We were to Disney the week after she turned one and I really did not want to bring bottles if I did not have to so I had a goal in mind and she made the transition very easily.

    E is addicted to his bottle and still wants absolute nothing to do with a sippy cup.  I need help!  I want to go cold turkey, but it is HOT here and I don't want him to get dehydrated.  Help!!

    We're on a sippy but it is very bottle like. He still won't hold it for himself even though he is totally capable. It's frustrating but he doesn't eat enough so he'll probably be on the bottle for awhile now.

    I was not one that was all, NO BOTTLES AFTER 1 YEAR.

    And I am glad. 

    Ethan dropped bottles slowly. By 13 months, he had 1 at bedtime, 1 in the morning, By 17 months, just morning,  at about 18 months, he wanted a sippy. For a few months, I asked him, sippy or bottle. He was about 60/40 sippy. Occasionally a bottle made him happier, if he was upset or sick, but by 19 months, he was over it. NO stress, no unhappy mom, no unhappy baby.

    And the other day, when I finally packed the bottles up, I cried
