Went to Ikea to return something today. Opened my trunk, grabbed the stuff, got annoyed because the receipt was missing, closed the trunk. Reached in my purse for the keys - no where. Panic attack begins. Look in trunk: there are the keys. (I drive an SUV.) Panic more. Go over to Dakota and tell her I locked the keys in, someone will come and help her out. I tried to get her to push the button on her car seat, but she couldn't do it.
I have AAA, but thought there is no way, they are going to take forever. It was probably 100 degrees today.
Called 911. I have no idea if that was something I was "supposed" to do or if I was abusing the system, but I didn't care. I was freakin out! Get off the phone with the operator and not even 2 minutes later, the fire truck comes tearing across the parking lot with lights on, oh LORD. 3 firemen hop out and I wanted to RUN AND HIDE. "Yeah, hey guys, I'm one of those idiot parents that lock my kid in the car on a 100 degree day."
It took them a few minutes but got my door open. They used a: blood pressure cuff, a wood door jam (that keeps a door open) and a wire hook. LOL
Luckily D was okay, but not really something I want to relive ever again!!!
Lesson of the day: always check for keys before closing the door!
Re: Wanna hear a crazy story about my day?
Hugs
This is one of my biggest fears, and I'm absent-minded enough to do it, especially after I have 2 kids giving my mommy brain
I am so glad everything worked out!
And yes, that is something you are supposed to call 911 for. DH goes to quite a few of those calls.
