Headaches

Anybody get frequent headaches during early 2nd tri? Seriously, its almost daily. They are mild, but annoying, go away with 1 500 mg dose of Tylenol and lots of water, but is taking so much Tylenol bad? Any other natural remedies I should consider?

Should I be concerned something else is going on? I have a history of migraines and wasn't overly surprised by the headaches, but not having my Excedrin is making them a little more difficult.

Re: Headaches

  • I was told taking tylenol was fine while pregnant.  I had some pretty bad head aches the first time myself.

I was also told to drink lots of water and get plenty of rest.  But if your really concerned then it can't hurt to ask you doctor about it.

  • I got them a lot from around 10 weeks to around 15-16 weeks.  Every day at the same time.  The only thing that worked was a LOT more water...like over 100 oz a day. :(

  • Ditto the water intake... like obscene amounts of water!

  • I also did lots of water.  It somewhat helped.

One day, I happened to have a bit of caffeine and my headache disappeared.  Now, I have just a bit of caffeine when I feel one coming on.  I know that it isn't natural, but it is the only thing that truly helps me.

  • I got them too. Ditto the water, however I was still really sick. Then and water made it worse. I would drink a little coke and it helped a lot.
  • I have a history of migraines and I had this happen too. It was annoying, but it did go away. I just took Tylenol and when it got really bad I would lie down with an ice pack on my head. Probably sounds weird, but it worked for me!

  • I'm prone to migraines as well.  I had a lingering headache in the 1st tri and Tylenol didn't do much for me, so I drank a small cup of coffee (less than 8oz) and that helped a lot.

If your headache is accompanied with dizziness, blurry vision or shortness of breath, call the advice line ASAP.  My OB told me (just today) that that could be a sign of high blood pressure.

    Feel better!

  • 1) water water water

    2) 2 tylenol :)

    3) peppermint oil!  I kept a bottle on my desk and in my purse. I smelled like a candy cane all the time, but it would cool down my headaches like magic and keep me feeling good!
