2nd pregnancy ?

My DH's cousin is getting married in mid-September. I will be 15 weeks pregnant then. What are the chances I will need to find a maternity dress to wear? Also, apparently it's an outdoor wedding & reception so let's hope the weather tones the heat down by then!!

I'm not sure when I'll need to go to maternity clothes this time around. Seems like it wasn't a necessity until closer to 20 weeks or maybe later last time. I can't really remember!

If you think I'll need a maternity dress, are there any cute ones out there that are breathable? Seems like the ones I have from my last pregnancy were polyester....might sweat to death in that outside for a few hours!

Thanks!

  • On page two there is a post for 2nd time moms.  I have a pic of me at 15 weeks.  I would have needed something other then pre-pregnancy clothes.  I was pretty big.

  • I started showing exactly the same with both kids, around 22 weeks. I don't think that is the norm, though. I guess it just depends on the person. Maybe you could get some decent maternity pants and a top to wear, that way you can still use them later?

  • I'm 20 weeks now with my second and just moving into maternity things. Though I had a bump earlier, the styles right now are so loose that they have worked well for it. Pants were really the first thing I needed. If you find a higher-waisted dress, you might be just fine in a regular dress.

I definitely needed maternity clothes at 15w but I also showed early with DD too.  Honestly tough to say.  I might look for an empire waist gown with a forgiving amount of fabric below the waist so even if you needed a little extra room, no problem.  Or just get a maternity dress -- I got polyester and while yes, not ideal, if you get sleeveless, you should be okay.  There are some cute ones on Motherhood and reasonably priced too.  And you should be able to wear them over and over again.

  • Pants? Yes, I would have needed maternity at 15 weeks. A dress?  As long as it wasn't atight fitting style, I was fine with dresses until 20-ish weeks.  Do you have something that is flowly on the bottom so it won't be stretched across your belly?

This is what I would have said. If it's tight fitting, maybe a size bigger?

  • I can still wear non maternity dresses and my belly is huge! I would look for a non maternity dress that is flowy enough to allow for growth. At 15 weeks most maternity dresses ill probably be frumpy looking on you, at least that is my experience.
