We watched my brother's dog over the weekend. She might be needier than most dogs because she is a rescue and has separation anxiety. Anyway, we pregnant ladies pee a lot in the night.... the dog got up every time. One time she got up so fast that I didn't even realize she was up until I opened the door and looked down and she was already in the hall! I'd tell her to go back to sleep and sometimes she would but then she wanted to see what I was doing or she had to pee, too. It got to the point where I was afraid to get up because I didn't want to wake everyone-- the dog and then H! lol Oy. Who plans their pee around a freaking dog!
She's going home today and I'll miss her a lot but I think I'll get better sleep.
Re: Well, I have a new respect for pregnant dog owners.
I was thinking that might be part of it, too. My brother's GF pees a million times in the night, I am going to ask her if the dog gets up with her!
Our door is also really loud and it has to stay shut b/c of the a/c.
If you ever watch her again, I'd ask if she was kennel trained:)
I have a hard time hooking out dog up on his line to let him out to pee. My husband is going to put a hook on the side of the house, so I don't have to bend over when he's not home!
At first both my dogs would wake up every time I used the bathroom. Now they could care less. I hope it continues this way for the remainder of my pregnancy!
I'm right there with you!
We're babysitting one of my friend's lab puppy (I say puppy, but she's over a year old) while she's out of the country... I've been spoiled with our 5yr old Jack Russell, who knows our routine-- puppy does not, and insists on waking up everytime I roll over-- she's been moved into her crate in the kitchen at night, and not too happy about it... Congrats on regaining your freedom to pee at will ;D
Same here.
That's how this dog is too. She is in love with my brother. He could just get up and walk a circle around a chair and sit back down and she'd follow him. It's sweet. I just felt bad waking her up in the night in a strange enviornment. They are coming back today, she is going to be so excited..
I'm sure if we had a dog they'd get used to my peeing and eating... I hope!
Now that's just funny. lol
I only get up once in the night, and Turtle usually gets up with me. She goes out, wanders the living room and kitchen as if she's doing a safety check on the apartment, then when I'm crawling back into bed to resumes her position beside my side of the bed on the floor.
We sleep with the bedroom door open, so she sometimes wanders around the house even when I don't get up. It's nice to have the company sometimes when I cannot sleep, she'll sit up and happily get some pets while I try falling back to sleep.
They are unique individuals!! They do this everywhere in the house I go. Single line and all!
Yep, that's Kota. DH will get up before me on the weekends and Kota will lay beside the bed and wait for me to get up even if it takes all morning. She definitely suffered from some seperation anxiety when she was younger. She's always been very attached to me. Maybe b/c I got her from the pound at such a young age (I don't know?) I think she comes in the bathroom with me because when she was a puppy she couldn't be trusted by herself and I would make her come in with me... now I guess its a habit.
I feel bad when she's sleeping upstairs with me and I want to run downstairs quickly to get a drink or something and she gets up and follows me down and back up. I hate to make her do all that when I'm coming right back! I try to use the stay command- doesn't work very well.

Mine gets up but I don't have to let her out or anything, she's just hoping I'm getting up for good, I pee and then go back to bed and so does she. The only problem I have is that sometimes she lays right next to my bed and I'm afraid I might step on her when I get up.
We have a 3 year old lab and she's has gotten DH up almost every night since she was a pup to go poo sometime between 3-5am. She RUSHES out the door to the yard so you know she really has to go!
Since I've been getting up more frequently during the night I just let her out and she's pretty quick and ready to go back to bed right away. I always think "How would I feel if if I were in her position holding it all in!" How uncomfortable!
Oh what we do for our fur children.
I bet she's getting up because she's freaked out. My dog sticks like glue to me if we're not home. He even forces his 75lb self into the bathroom with me and tries to sit on my lap while I go, but only when he's freaking out. The rest of the time he couldn't care less what I'm doing!
You're going to miss her so much! I want you to get a dog!

Yeah, I really will miss her. She's the sweetest thing.
H and I already talked about it and don't want A dog we want THAT dog. Not going to happen! We'll just see her when my bro is around. She's got so much personality and that's what I love so much about her.
I know exactly what you mean. You have to send me a picture of her, she sounds so cute.
