How long do you leave your LO in bed when they wake up assuming they are happy?

My dd has been waking up pretty content lately and is happy to look around her room when she wakes up.  She's been a wake for a good 25 minutes now and has barely made a peep.  She's definitely not fussing.  I feel bad sitting here knowing she's awake, but I see on the monitor that she's looking at her crib toy and crawling around.

When she wakes up fussy I get her immediately.

  • Depends on what's planned for our day.  During the week this never happens b/c I have to wake him to leave.  But on weekends he'll sleep in later.  If we have errands to run and I hear he's awake I'll go on in, get him dressed, feed breakfast and out the door we go.  If we don't have anything to do...I'll let him happily hang out in his crib until he's ready to get out.

  • At least an hour.  She loves to lounge in her crib in the morning.  If we get her too early she is miserable and cries.  She reads and plays with her toys and blankets (yes, I ::gasp:: have books, stuffed animals, and a blanket in her crib).  I can hear her laughing and talking to all of her stuff.
  • DD usually wakes up very happy and loves to lay in her crib and talk.  I usually let her lay in there and chatter for about 30mins.  Sometimes she'll start calling for me or say "Mommy, c'mere!!"  So if she starts doing that, I'll go in and get her.

  • We don't get them out of bed before 7:30 (unless something's wrong, of course, but that almost never happens these days) and sometimes recently they've been going to bed a little later and getting up a little later. If I wake up late I'll usually go ahead and get my own breakfast and theirs ready b/c I do much better if I'm able to wake up on my own a little bit before wrangling the two of them! They're usually happy for a good 20 minutes or so when they first wake up before they start calling for us. ;) And like pp said, if we go in right away they are usually more crabby; they seem to be like me in needing time to wake up more slowly on their own!

  • As long as he's happy.  He used to be able to stay in there for quite a while but he's getting a little bit more anxious to get out these days.  Usually once he's stood up I know he's done!

On the weekends, I wont go in before 7:30 unless they are fussing.  Sometimes they'll wake up earlier and play or talk to each other and if I am lucky, fall back asleep.  Usually they are pretty happy in their cribs in the morning.

this for us too.  during the week I won't go in before 6:30 am.

  • Same here- as long as he isn't crying, we'll let him hang out. He's actually super quiet, we dont' even realize he's awake until he's ready for us to come and see him.

But then once we go in, he still wants to play and crawl around in his crib!  It can be a 1/2 hour process sometimes. He's a goof.
