They're growing, slowly but surely.
I had one big 'un at 13.5, one at 10, three at 9 and two at 8.
Which seems like an effing lot of follicles to me, even if some of them are smaller, but the u/s just sort of gave me a weird look when I asked if it was looking like we might have to cancel this cycle due to too many mature follicles. I admit to not really understanding this part of the process. I just know the doc knows how I feel about the risk of high order multiples, so I know we'll be keeping an eye on that.
The tech did say if my estrogen was elevated in the b/w (which is becoming a clear trend with me) I might have to go back tomorrow for another check.
We'll see, we'll see.
Re: 6:45 a.m. Follicle check on CD 10
I think the #s sound good for the days you've done the meds - and yes, that is a bunch, but my guess would be they would want you back sooner rather than later to see if some of the smaller ones go away and the larger ones get larger before trigger.
good luck!
My sis had 7 follies in both of her conception cycles and in each one she had 3 that were "prime" size. Her first cycle resulted in a singleton and the second in twins.
That's the absolute extent of my experience. . . sorry.

I was MIA while I was away and missed your protocol and what procedures you guys are going through. I'm sorry. :-(
To me...those numbers seem really good. You want to have a bunch because some may grow to large and then will not be viable and some will not grow enough and will not be viable. The goal is to have a few right in the middle that are perfect!
Hope that helps!
This is REALLY helpful, thank you!
(We're doing Gonal-F injections, in the hopes of preventing early ovulation of premature eggs. She thinks that might have something to do with the problems we are having, since they are growing slowly, even on the drugs, and that may be why the cells in our babies are not dividing properly.)
Be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle!

I also know nothing about this subject, but wanted to wish you well! I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you - I can't wait to hear what your doctor has to say about this!
::lurking::
Those are good numbers. I'd be surprised if you had more than 2. My RE says that if they are not at 12 by CD11, they are probably not going to grow, unless you increase your drugs dosage amounts.
So, assuming you fall in line with the "normal" patterns of 1-2mm of growth a day, it looks like the 13.5 will be your winner, and the 10 could go either way. The 9's look to be serious underachivers and will probably grow a tiny bit, but mainly stagnate.

BFP #4 via the natural (free!) way ~ E (8lb 11oz) 9/13/12
That is a large number of follies but you may only have one or two that mature to 18 or larger. That's the number my RE looks at. are you doing more gonal-f injections tonight? you have the orvidrel trigger too right? I hope you get 1-2 nice size follies to work with! I'm so excited for you!
This makes me want AF to show her face ASAP for me so we can get our next IUI underway!!!
GL!!!!!!!!!!!
Alright, Allison Follicles, LISTEN UP!
You WILL maintain proper growth speed, and you WILL prepare yourselves to release super-healthy, ready-to-nest eggs. We do not need an army of you, but we do need those of you who are participating this cycle to buck up and DO YOUR JOBS- flawlessly.
Your progress is being graded for this mission. DO NOT LET US DOWN!!!
That is all!
Thanks everyone! I'm glad there are people here who have some idea what I'm talking about, because I sure don't.
I feel a little more positive now, like maybe this cycle will be a go with a good egg! Thanks for that!
Your follies grow at about 1-2mm per day, so by the time your 13.5 one is mature, most of the others won't be. And, when you trigger, only the mature (18mm+) ones are released. So, all sounds good so far!!
ETA: Are you doing TI or IUI?
GL! I don't really know much about that so I'm sorry that is all I can offer.
I'm with you on the confusion about when to worry about too many follicles. Last month on CD 11 I had one at 2.3 and one at 1.5 and a bunch of smaller ones -they had me trigger that night and said I'd probably only have one. This month at CD 9 I had two at 1.6 and two at 1.3 and they said I'd probably get all four of those and they seemed like that was a good thing. So I don't know how many is too many.
Good luck!
As of right now, good old sex. But if this cycle is a bust, we might move to IUI next month.
Sounds like its a good start.
I wouldn't worry about the smaller follies that the tech counted just yet. I had a few cycles where there would be a few that were 8 or 9 and then by the next monitoring, the larger one took over and the 8 and 9's were gone.
Good luck!
