I noticed that several ladies are runners/walkers. Nikilouhoo and I are training for separate races in October and November. If you are training or even considering a race, let me know if you want to do a weekly check-in. Something fun and supportive. I figure since most of us have our long runs on the weekends, we could do a Sunday or Monday check-in to see how the week went and what the training plan is for the upcoming week....
Here is my quote of the week: (from Shalane Flanagan's coach):
"You can train the body to do more, take more, run more and it would hurt and you?d curse it, but then a miracle would happen: what felt hard a month ago feels good now!"
Re: Running/jogging/walking race training check-in????
OOOOOH, I'm in! great quote and that sentiment is one that we talk about quite a bit - how "easy" the short distance/run is compared to last week, or that our long distance is now our short...
I am signed up for a 5K in October and will also do a Thanksgiving morning 5K.
My running buddy and I are doing the C25K...again. We completed it last year, but then I tweaked my knee (not while running for a change). This time we are doing it for distance rather than time.
) We just completed Week 4 day 2 this morning.
I mostly lurk on this board and I am hoping to lose/be fit when we TCC int he future.
I will set this up as a Sunday evening check-in. This way we can share our triumphs of the previous week and plan the upcoming week. I will share my check-in tonight and then look for a weekly check-in... Let's think of some fun names for the check-in!!! I will post a separate post starting next week.
Training week ending Sunday, July 25:
Planned weekly total: 13 miles
Long run: 6 miles (Sunday)
Celebration: I ran the entire 6 miles today without my ipod and without a walk break! This is my farthest distance of continuous running to date.
This upcoming week: 15 miles, with 6 miles being the long run.
Loving this. I'll try to think of some names - so far all I've got is Sole 2 Soul
Training week ending Sunday, July 25:
Planned weekly total: 10 miles
Long run: 5 miles (Saturday)
Celebration: Not really running related, except it's why my running was so light this week - We've been gutting the front half of our house (living, kitchen and family) the old tile, carpet and popcorn ceilings are gonzo! Painting is done and the floor is prepped for the hardwood. We're doing a lot of the work ourselves, so it's tiring, but fun.
This upcoming week: 15 miles, with 6 miles being the long run.
