PSA: Swim Diapers

Do not, and I repeat do not put LO in a swim diaper until it is time to get into the pool.

LOL, we decided to get LO all ready to go swimming at home, put him in the car, and then drove the 10 minutes to get to our friends house. Soaked through the diaper, of course b/c it isn't meant to catch the pee, the car seat and he was dripping all down his leg.

Re: PSA: Swim Diapers

  • Oh, no!  I just read about that last week, so learned before it actually became an issue.  Before then, I had no idea!  Hopefully it wasn't too bad a clean up!!

  • This happened to me a few weeks ago.  We went to a local state park to swim in the river.  It was flooded, so we all sat around, ate lunch, thinking about what to do.  DD had peed totally threw the diaper and her swimsuit and onto the park bench.  I guess I never thought about the fact that they are not absorbent.  As my friend put it, they are meant to catch the poo, not the pee.  LOL.

  • There have been quite a few posts like this since swim season.
  • I did not know this.  I will take this advice seriously!

  • Thanks for the PSA.  I was contemplating putting DD in her swim diaper at our house tomorrow before we drove the 10-15 mins to the pool.

  • This seems to be one of those things that nobody realizes but when they do it's like "duh!"  I had never thought about the fact that swim diapers wouldn't be absorbent - luckily we've never had an issue, though!

  • I just realized this the other day when we were at MIL's house and ate lunch before we got in the pool. MIL went to pick him up and got pee all over her! LOL!

    LOL! Poor G!!
  • My SIL taught me a great trick. Keep a regular diaper on and put a swim diaper over it, then when you get to the pool you can just slide off the regular diaper. It works great for DS and saves time!

  • I also found this out the hard way. ugh!
