Pregnant after m/c berfore 1st period

Hey ladies! I recently got my BFP! yay right???? Well im having a hard time getting excited, i think im in denial actually. I had a miscarriage (blighted ovum) on june 10th this year. I of course was told by my OB to wait 2 cylces before trying again. So imagine my suprise when i started having pregnancy symptoms. I had not had a period yet since the miscarriage. So i took a frer and got a bfp. Now im terrified, im so scared i will have another miscarriage because its so soon after. I guess im just looking for some encouraging stories to maybe give me some hope. TIA

Did you follow your hcg levels down to zero after the blighted ovum?

I go through hcg fairly fast after my miscarriages - and when I had my blighted ovum, it still took about 21 days before the hcg was out of my system. I only say this because you *might* have remnant hcg in your system. One of the reasons physicians tell women to wait is because they have a m/c, test 30 days later, get a +, then get a period and feel as though they had a 2nd miscarriage, when in fact it was simply remnant hcg in their system.

I'm hoping that's not the case for you, but it's one of the reason I tended to follow doctor's orders. Otherwise, a tentative congrats your way!

I was also wondering if you had tested prior to this and had a - test. I think the only way to know if it is a healthy pregnancy is to have your numbers checked. I dont think you are the first person to have this happen so I would not worry about it too much.

Thanks ladies for your responses. I should have mentioned i did test prior ( because i am a POAS addict) And it was negative this was about 3 weeks ago. So im fairly certain its not left over HCG from the m/c. Me being in denial got me thinking this as well but i dont think there is anyway i would have gotten a negative and now a positive if that were the case.

I always waited as long as the doctor told me to. However, I do have one friend who got pregnant right away and she's on her way over now with her 7 month old daughter. It's one of very few success stories I've heard. Best of luck to you.

I've reviewed the lit. Statistically speaking, there's only a very very very very slightly higher risk of m/c in the cycle after a loss and even that isn't heavily substantiated.

That and the slight risk for infection is why doctors tend to recommend waiting several cycles. There's the additional issue of the emotional resonance should there be a loss on top of a loss - this often compells them to advise more space between conception cycles. But when it comes to cold hard facts, the cold hard facts don't necessarily support the need to wait.

Emotionally speaking, I'm a fan of the waiting though. But it's not for everyone. Anyhow, sorry for the rambling. Congrats.

Congrats! I had my 2nd miscarriage(chemical pregnancy) on April 21st. My first beta was a 6. The day day I started bleeding my HCG was at a 5, the next day it was at a 3. The doctor confirmed an early loss. He told me to wait one cycle but it didn't quite end up that way either. I started charting and 18 days after the bleeding started, I ovulated and got pregnant. Right now I'm 13 1/2 weeks, and am in my second trimester now, the farthest I have ever made it. I too am scared and fear something bad will happen. I try to remain positive but sometimes it's just hard.

Thanks for the info! I of course have been googleing this like crazy and couldnt find any medical Statistics about greater chance of m/c which was my concern so i really apreaciate it this eases my mind a bit!

Congrats to you!!! Thats so awesome looks like your bean is here to stay. I totally understand your fears and im hoping for you to have a healthy and happy rest of your pregnancy. Im so glad to hear this hasnt just happend to me. Again the reasurance is greatly appreciated.

I had a missed m/c in March of this year (blighted ovum as well) and a D&C. I fell pregnant the next month, before 1st period.. I am currently 18 weeks along and doing well. My dr. advised me to wait a cycle for dating purposes and emotional healing, but said it was fine if I fell pregnant right away. However, everyone is different of course.
