Would you hold off?

My husband and I have just started TTC.  If I were to get pregnant this cycle, I would find out around August 17-20. We have a trip to Hawaii planned for August 20th. So I would just find out I was pregnant literally right before leaving for our trip. Would you hold off for a month or still try? The flight will be about 10 hours long. I know it is a personal choice, but just wondering what others in this position would do. Thanks! Big Smile

    You may not find out right away.  Sometimes it may take a few weeks after your missed period.  You just never know.  If I were you I would wait so that you can enjoy your trip!

    I would definetley still try....and if you did get pregnant, how fun would it be to find out right before you go to hawaii!!!  Smile

    I probably wouldn't hold off.  Statistically speaking, you probably won't get KU your first month trying, anyways.  Start charting this cycle at least.  Then you"ll be better prepared when you do get pregnant.

    This. Remember you have a 20% chance each cycle TTC, so I would go for it.

    Thanks for the responses. We have been TTC for about 3 months now and I guess we will keep trying this cycle! I know the chances are slim but hey, you never know right?!?

    The flight would be safe...go ahead and continue to ttc!!! Good luck. I just started too and I had to search online about this bc. We are going to mexico next year and I wanted to make sure to time it out right. It is safe usually until your close to delivering or your dr says no! Have fun in hawaii!!!

    As long as a major part of your trip isn't planned around drinking, I say keep humping it out and enjoy Hawaii!!

    I'm not sure what the 10 hour flight has to do with TTC, but I wouldn't hold off.  Like some PPs said, there's only a 20% chance each cycle. I say go for it.

    I had the same thought. We are going to Florida in Sept (not 10hrs I know) but I am deathly afraid of flying and usually have to take xanax to even get on the plane and I know I cant if I'm KU. I had to promise my DH that if we started ttc before sept I would still get on that flight. I promised and meant it and here we are. I would and am totally going for it!

    Ugh, wouldn't finding out you're pregnant and then getting to go to Hawaii make it that much better? I'm failing to understand how a 10 hours flight matters.

    Hold up. What?! If OP is charting, she'd know right away. It doesn't take "a few weeks" after a missed period to determine pregnancy. Lurk around some.

    I wouldn't hold off...for anything really. 

    I'm really confused as to why you would even think of not TTC this cycle.

    Like you said, it's a personal choice. I hope you make the right one for you :) good luck!

    Definitely a personal choice but seeing that many couples try for a long time to get pregnant- I wouldn't hold up the process for something like a trip.

    BFP #1- 4/2011; DD Brynn born 12/2011

    BFP #2- 7/13; EDD- 4/2/14; Lost DS at 20 weeks (11/16/13) due to cord accident

    BFP #3- 3/14; EDD- 11/28/14; Lost DD at 15 weeks (6/7/14)- cause unknown

    To my angels- I held you every second of your lives and I'll love you every second of mine.

    I just posted a similar question on 1st tri.  The consensus was that it's fine to travel early in pregnancy -- so I wouldn't worry about the long flight, even if you do get KU.  Enjoy your trip (lucky girl!)

    I'd be happy to find out I was pg right before vacation, so I'd definitely keep TTC... but heck..... I'd be happy to find out I was pg right before a lobotomy, as long as I find out I'm pg... I'm tired of waiting!! (lol, sorry, IL's got me riled up about babies this evening)
